Education

The University of Sulaymaniyyah opened in 1968 with instruction in Kurdish, Arabic, and English. It has faculties in engineering, agriculture, the arts,medicin and science.  At present 12,000 students are written.

1973: A Institue for medical technology was opened

A new university complex develops about 20 kilometers to the west of the old complex, which university moved to the outskirts of a town. the new building is finished placed 2009.

In September 2007 by American Ambassador Ryan Crocker a new university was opened. This new university is called American University of Iraq and the total costs 90 millions USD will amount to. After model this university is to bring Iraq and special the north of the country forward to the American University of Beirut and the American University in Cairo. Costs of studying 10,000 USD will amount to. In the first term 50 students are accepted. If the university is posed, here 1000 students are to be trained. Instruction language is English
