Economy

There is three main streets, which connect the city Sulaimany with other regions. A connection to Kirkuk approx. 110 km western direction, one toward Baquba ca.300 km toward southern direction and one toward Erbil approx. 200 km northward. The economy of Sulaymaniyah is based mainly from agriculture, in particular agriculture with tobacco. Sualiamnyah is in Iraq with distance in the first place with producing of tobacco. There is large tobacco company in the city. Products are supplied to all regions in Iraq as well as to Iran. Sulaimany is on summer, because of fresh and cool mountain air important, destinations among Iraqi tourists

The airport is to western direction of the city. The international airport was opened on 21 July 2006. Most flights are worked on by Kurdish airlines; Fly Air attaches Sulaimaniya with Turkey, Hamburg internationally with Munich and Frankfurt, some other airlines also with Stockholm and Copenhagen.
